The Boathouse is calling all those interested in supporting breast cancer survivors to celebrate team and community by sponsoring and/or participating in the first annual Dragon Boat race on Morse Lake!
On May 18th, the Boathouse will host the first annual Morse Lake Dragon Boat Fest, with all proceeds benefiting the breast cancer group Indy SurviveOars. So grab 20 of your closest friends and try your hand at paddling the waters of Morse Reservoir in a 46' Dragon Boat.
If you're interested in building camaraderie within your office, church, tribe or organization while supporting a great local cause, please email info@boathousekitchen.com so we can send additional information to your admin department. Or download the Dragon Boat Packet below this section for more detailed information and sponsorship opportunities.
Did you know that repetitive upper body exercise in women treated for breast cancer encourages healing? Since this discovery, hundreds of breast cancer survivors across the world have formed dragon boat teams and are paddling and racing regularly, promoting good health and fun. And we are thrilled to support them!
See you on the lake!
Dragon boat racing began more than 2,000 years ago in China and eventually made its way to North America in the 1980s. It is now considered the fastest growing team water sport in the world!
The lndy SurviveOars has three dragon boats, the original Indiana boat was the first pink dragon boat ever made. That boat’s head and tail are the first in the world to be custom-designed and painted pink.
